is this quartzite ?and what step would is size of flake be in the process ?many of these were found at a spring along a old Indian trail   old map calls it Indian spring

hopefully someone in your area will provide more informed thoughts on the matter. that's clearly metamorphosed material but as to its chemical composition i don't know. the flakes look secondary but...

i don't have the piece it was taken from theses are dug from a work site at a spring and trail to the quarry site and there homemay be i can find two pieces that fit together
